Comparing a pre-Republican Primary chart to a post-Republican Primary chart shows Congresswoman Nancy Boyda (still) outpacing Lynn Jenkins in the gathering of online friends. Yes, yes, fine, we all know that doesn't translate directly into votes, but one thing is for sure: among people who are paying attention to politics & use Facebook and MySpace there is no great desire to see their Member of Congress with someone like Lynn Jenkins.

Again, Boyda & Ryun see improvements, while Jenkins is just sittin' still. Like, so, so many commenters have said (our guess- Jenkins supporters), friends on social networking sites certainly don't determine electoral success- but nearly do yard signs, or lists of endorsements, or anything like that. The world of organizing via social networking sites is just like old-fashioned door-to-door- it's another way to engage people, inform people, and convince people you're the right person for the job.

And, there is something undeniable here: Something Congresswoman Nancy Boyda has done has engaged a couple thousand people online, and Ryun & Jenkins can't compete with that. Does it mean anything? Nothing other than Boyda has a pool of potential supporters already identified that Ryun & Jenkins neither one have. That can't be but a good thing.

Growth all over the place (save the Republicans on MySpace...), and Lynn Jenkins was even able to rebound of her lose of supporters in her Facebook Group.

Something's odd though- and it's something we hadn't honestly thought about before...why are Nancy Boyda's numbers increasing so steadily, while Ryun & Jenkins aren't growing as much...yet they're in an active primary? Shouldn't we see pretty dramatic increases in numbers, if only because Ryun's up on TV?

Odd...

Our first week that brings us anyone with falling numbers- Lynn Jenkins managed to lose one person from her "Send Lynn to Washington" group on Facebook. Sign of the apocalypse, right? ;-). Jim Ryun's numbers continue to increase steadily, but Congresswoman Nancy Boyda's numbers are frickin' unbelievable. There is either a very real enthusiasm behind her, or she's got really, really good Web 2.0 staff. Either way, great job Team Boyda!

Another week that sees the most movement from Boyda, though Ryun continues a slow upward trek and even Jenkins saw some new peeps on the Facebook side of things.

In end, we understand such things are hard for Republicans....there aren't so many young people you identify with the GOP...but it's so good they're trying.

Boyda, in our first week, is our clear winner, though Frm. Congressman Ryun did more than triple the number of people in his "Jim Ryun for Congress" Facebook group- up from 27 to 90.

Hmm...for the only candidate in the race with an avatar on Second Life, he's not so good at the social media.

We've decided to add a feature, which, probably, will be an every Saturday affair dedicated to monitoring how each of the three major-party candidates are winning the war of the social networking sites. (We're only leaving out the Libertarian and Reform Party candidates because we can't find any evidence they have entered the playing field...if they do, we'll include them as well).

Tongue-in-Cheek Day: McCain-Boyda for a Stronger America

Just two quick funny/interesting posts involving Congresswoman Nancy Boyda.

First, for some reason, Republican presidential nominee John McCain is advertising his campaign on Nancy Boyda's MySpace page. Mike Connery talks about it here, and our good friend Ally Klimkoski talks about it here.

Generally, both of them point out it's 1) strange he's advertising on a Democrat's MySpace page, and 2) that it might be a sign, as Ally puts it, that he "has found the Internets."

We just thought it was entertaining.

Next, a post from months ago that we just found again- interestingly, also involving Nancy Boyda and John McCain. The post mentions Congresswoman Boyda has a potential Secretary of State in a potential McCain administration.

Yes, we laughed, too, but not in the mean way all of you Republicans are. :-)

All of us, Democrat and Republican, Boyda supporters and Boyda haters, can probably all come together and say the same thing: "That ain't gonna happen." But, it's nice to know someone out there thinks that highly of her.
