LJWorld.com has a story today relating some excellent new for Kansans in the 2nd and 3rd Congressional Districts: Charlie Cook, one of the nation's best political oddsmakers believes both Kansas Democrats, Nancy Boyda and Dennis Moore, will be re-elected in 2008.
It isn't surprising to have Congressman Moore so listed- particularly since, once again, he will be facing a Republican challenger who is far too conservative for the district.
To have Congresswoman Boyda listed as "leans Democratic" is wonderful news- everyone knows the race will be competitive, but with the fantastic service she has provided her constituents, with her growing list of legislative accomplishments, with national political winds blowing in her direction, and with the advantage every incumbent has inherently, Cook sees Nancy Boyda being sent back to Washington in 2008.
In a district like the KS-02 that would worry Jim Ryun and Lynn Jenkins significantly.

You didn't mention that at this time 2 years ago, Jim Ryun was considered almost unbeatable by Charlie Cook.
that's not a bad point, for sure...anything can happen.
'course...by election day boyda might be unbeatable
I doubt that she will be unbeatable. She will have to take back a lot of what she campainged on. i.e. Not wasting a single taxpayer dollar (earmarks continue), not raising taxes (rolled bacl the tax cuts), being independent (dem leadership all over her reports). Her own campaign commercials are going to come back to haunt her. She is not independent, she is a democrat. If she was an independent, she should run as an independent.
i disagree. I think she's shown herself as being very independent of leadership. the reason their money is all over her report is because she's a number in their column.
Earmarks don't equal waste- sometimes they do, but not always.
She didn't "roll back the tax cuts"- that's silly Republican spin- but the Dems (and Nan) are going to make those who can afford to pay more pay more while looking for even deeper cuts for the middle class.
so, whatever what you want to believe
Boyda said she would not waste ONE dollar of our money. So she lied. She said she wouldn't raise taxes, but she will on someone. Why didn't she say she would only raise taxes on the rich. She said she wouldn't raise ANYONES taxes. So she lied. Wouldn't someone independent vote at least 50% of the time with Republicans? No let's change that to 30%, Oh she still fails that test. So she lied. I thought she was going to change DC and she hasn't changed anything but her position from what she promised. You believe what you want, but you might want to review her commercials from the campaign. I am no Ryun fan, but basically all politicians are the same, they will say anything to get elected and then they get back to reality when elected. Neither Boyda or Ryun are good or bad, they are the same.
Nancy Boyda will be reelected because God is punishing us. But not to worry. Jim Ryun is Congressman for eternity in the hereafter.
I heard that Nancy was getting all her tattoos removed. Is that true?
Nancy never said she wouldn't raise ANYONE's taxes...that's certainly not what that TV commercial said
What exactly did it say? I believe the quote was "I'm not going to raise your taxes" I can still hear it. She was standing in front of some fake background with her hands clasped in front of her. It was in response to Ryun's add about her raising taxes. So specifically who was she talking to when she said that?
'course, I can't speak for her, but I thought she was saying she wasn't going to raise taxes on people like me and my family- average, middle class Kansans- and I believe that she isn't going to.
What she did was vote to allow irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy to lapse.
From there, we get into a semantics debate- she didn't vote to raise taxes, on me or anyone else. She hasn't done anything she said she wouldn't.
Hasn't done ANYTHING ..... EXCEPT ACCEPT MONEY FROM THE WASHINGTON SPECIAL INTERESTS THAT SHE SAID SHE WOULDN'T TAKE MONEY FROM ...... and to prove she is an independent ..... she is bringing in Nancy Pelosi
