Boyda Leads in Independent Poll

From Roll Call:

Boyda, who upset Ryun in 2006 despite the heavy Republican lean of the eastern Kansas 2nd district, was at the critical 50 percent mark in a head-to-head matchup with Jenkins. And Kansas voters viewed Boyda fairly favorably despite their strikingly poor opinion of Congress and the fact that they preferred Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) by 13 points in the presidential race.

Asked whom they would vote for in November, 50 percent of poll respondents said Boyda and 43 percent said Jenkins. The poll of 620 likely voters, conducted Aug. 19-21 for Roll Call by the automated polling firm SurveyUSA, had a 4-point margin of error.
This is the first independent polling we've seen in the race- previous polls have always either been candidate polls or poll done by partisan groups. While we aren't so fond of the way SurveyUSA does it's polling, this is just that much more validation of what we've been saying for months: Boyda's well-regarded in her district, and even though Republicans hold a registration edge, they're happy with their current Member of Congress.

This poll should scare Boyda to death. This summer, a poll showed Boyda with a 30 point lead over Jenkins.

It makes sense that Jenkins numbers are going up after the primary win, but Boyda's numbers are falling as well. That's not a good trend for Nancy.

A 7 point lead is nothing at this point in the election.

Agree, basically for two years you have heard very little negative about Boyda and the cap journal has pretty much only printed positive. Boyda is in trouble. Jenkins negatives have been exposed by Ryun, Boyda's haven't. 7 points and 50% for an incumbent is terrible.

Get real guys, read the guts of this poll, Jenkins is getting destroyed among moderates. DESTROYED. Not just losing a little bit, we're talking 28%.

A slight shift in moderates would spell the end for Boyda ..... she is the one who should be scared as hell

There must not be much bad to say about Jenkins. Ever since the primary this blog has died.

If memory serves me correctly, Ryun's poll numbers showed him up by double digits and he lost.

Not good for Nancy.

It would appear that we need to bring out the embalming fluid?!

Boyda Bloc fails to get Ryun elected in the primary. Blog dies now that they actually have to work on Nancy's reelection.
