Jenkins Goes Up on TV, Ryun Lies About It

The Ryun campaign sent out an email this morning announcing Lynn Jenkins had purchased nearly $9,000 worth of TV ads, and, of course, encouraged his supporters to ante up so he could stay on the air.

At first, we thought Ryun was lying through his teeth, because we couldn't find any evidence Jenkins has purchased any ad time- nothing in Topeka, nothing in St. Joseph, then we found the buy- both stations in Joplin. Total buy of $4,490.31.

A far cry from $9,000, and not on air until July 15, but at least he wasn't telling a complete lie.

We're not sure why Jenkins has decided to play her hand this way- we're assuming she knows he name recognition is highest in Shawnee County and plummets dramatically the farther away from Topeka you get- but, still, $4,000 in Joplin isn't going to buy her much airtime, and isn't going to put her in the living rooms of the vast majority of her would-be constituents. But, like our good friends at Left Brain Kansas said earlier today- it's looking more and more like Lynn has given up on this race for Congress and is, instead, preparing herself for 2010.

The very second we have Jenkins' ad, well post it for you all to see.

Unbelievable!!! Jim Ryun lying about something .... does Mark Foley ring a bell ..... maybe a great home deal in Washington

They don't call him honest Jim for nothing.

I almost wrote that with a straight face.

lying about difficult to prove things is one thing (i don't know if he's friends with mark foley or not...and i'd be hard pressed to prove it)

but lying about things that are generally available is something fundamentally different...I mean, really...it isn't hard to find out she didn't spend $9K on ads...

anyone have any idea what Jenkins is going to be pushing in her ad? is it a positive bio piece or is it a negative hit?

Umm ... Jenkins isn't even running ads next week. Guess Ryun "misspoke" again.

Jenkins did a $4400 buy at both stations in Joplin. Call and ask for your self.

I called the station, BB is right. $4,400 and the ads start July 15.

No, nothing next week, and not $9,000.

Ryun was, indeed, lying.

Isn't it nice when this blog & all you Jenkins supporters can be on the same side? ;-)
