Boyda says she believes credit card companies have all the power and consumers "don't even have a fighting chance a lot of the time." The proposal would also require a credit card bill be sent 25 days before payment is due.. and for the company to give 45 days notice before changing your interest rate.
Congresswoman Nancy Boyda is backing changes to the Truth in Lending Act that would make signing up for a credit card more transparent and fair for consumers.
As reported by WIBW TV in Topeka, Boyda's co-sponsoring the bill, which is now on its way to the United States Senate.

Another great bill for the people of Kansas and America from Congresswoman Boyda. The credit card industry needs a heck of a lot more regulation than currently exists. I caught most of a show on KTWU last night (the Topeka PBS station) about the credit card industry and it's scary how much power they have and how little that they're regulated. This bill address some of the issues raised in that program, but there's still much more that needs to be done.
Personally, I've never had a credit card. My motto is, if I can't pay cash for it, I can't afford it. Too bad our government doesn't live by those words.
