In a historic vote, the House of Representatives passed a revision to FISA today that not only let the executive branch intercept phone conversations with terrorists but also preserved Constitutional right of all Americans to be free from warrantless searches and to the right to sue for redress of grievances.
The finally tally was 213-197.
It's deeply disappointing 197 members of the House voted "no" on this bill- even more depressing if you use Republican rhetoric about it: Those 197 members were more interested in protecting the bottom lines of phone companies than the lives of Americans.

We should all be proud of Congresswoman Boyda for standing up for our rights. We should also ask Congressman Moore why he voted against this bill.

hold the phone...Moore voted for the bill, just so you all are aware.
Moore and the other Blue Dog Democrats supported the Senate bill, so I assumed that he voted no. I'm happy to see that I was wrong...but it's not good that Moore supported the Senate bill to begin with.

Congress will pass some measure to allow the phone companies to break contract, up your charges because of all the tort lawsuites that will happen because of this! anyway...the idea this should have been opposed because phone bills will go up is the most horrifying statement i've heard yet in this whole debate.

Are you still in junior high, or something? Because you sound like a complete idiot. Those "lawsuites" aren't looking for money, they're looking for accountability. The Bush/Cheney administration and the telecoms broke the law, and they need to be held accountable.
